The 15th Annual Santa Scramble Golf Tournament, benefiting the Bryan County Children's fund, was held on Friday, November 7, 2014. The tournament raised nearly $18,000. Wendy Sims from Bryan County Family Connection was on hand for the check presentation after the tournament. The food was provided by Smokin' Pig.

This self-guided tour will take you through historic buildings such as the Henry Ford Kindergarten building, and St. Anne Catholic Church, formerly the Martha-Mary Chapel built by Henry Ford, as well as several beautiful low country, southern homes. Guests will also enjoy a holiday tea at the historic church. Proceeds benefit the Richmond Hill Friends of the Library, Garden Club, Historical Society, Arts on the Coast and St. Anne Council of Catholic Women.


Richmond Hill City Council Unanimously Approves New Logo

Richmond Hill, Ga. – The Richmond Hill City Council recently and unanimously approved a new logo for the City. The design, modeled after the Ogeechee River's recognizable seven-mile bend, is the first one since 1987 and will become effective immediately.

The City of Richmond Hill will hold its first-ever Christmas decoration contest. The decorations must be a residential yard located within the city limits of Richmond Hill, and entries must be called into City Hall by December 12. Yards will be judged on the evening of December 15, and winners will be announced at the City Council meeting on December 16.

Fundraising Santa Holiday Photos for Your Pet

On Saturday December 6, 2014, in keeping with tradition Santa Claus will once again be visiting PawParazzi's store at 11360 Ford Avenue at Parkers Square in Richmond Hill for a fundraising event to support the Bryan County Animal Control. Pets are invited to meet Santa Claus and pose for their photograph in the spirit of the holiday season. Owners will be charged only $20 for each Santa photograph to include up to two pets and human family. Additional digital copies will be available, perfect family photos to make your Christmas Cards with. Angela Hopper of the Canvas Dog Studio, who is once again the photographer is donating her expertise to this fundraising event.

On the evening of Friday, November 14th, talented soprano and Savannah VOICE Festival artist and teacher, Rebecca Flaherty, performed a delightful selection of popular and Broadway songs at the Richmond Hill City Center who hosted a fundraising evening to support scholarships and community outreach for the Savannah VOICE Festival. A 'Diva Delight' cocktail was developed in honor of the occasion and many local music lovers including members of the Rotary Club of Richmond Hill attended.

Yesterday at the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Richmond Hill, Bill Cathcart presented a fascinating insight into the history of the life of 'Monk' Hunter and the Hunter Airbase. A native of Rochester, New York, Bill Cathcart recently retired from WTOC-TV after 29-years of service, the last 24 as the station's Vice-President and General Manager.

On October 27, 2014, Low Country Eye Care reopened for business in its newly constructed, free-standing building located at 1000 Gandy Dancer in the Station Exchange, moving from its current location in Ford Plaza. To commemorate the grand opening of its new building, Low Country Eye Care hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 12, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. at its new location; catered food and drinks and tours of the new building were provided.


Paws in the Park Festival Raises Over $1,300

The Bryan County Bark Park reports on a successful first week since its opening on November 5th with over $1,300 raised at the Paws in The Park Fall Festival last weekend. This will go towards paying down the $20,000 funding gap which needs to be closed before phase two of the Bark Park can begin in the New Year.
