Boisterous women, open bar, and the opportunity to network and socialize on both a business and professional level- what better way to spend a Friday night? The City Center was abuzz with excitement Friday, April 11th, as vendors set up elaborate displays of their business for the Women’s Business Alliance’s “Meet and Greet.”  The WBA, led by Civility Bowling, Aisha Dudley, and Darcel Miller has a mission, a mission to collectively work together to unite the women of the community and give them a chance to share their passion, promote their business and mingle with other fascinating women.

The students of Richmond Hill High School got themselves all dressed up for a night out in downtown Savannah for the schools Junior/Senior Prom this past Saturday, April 12, 2014. Organized by the student council of RHHS, prom was hosted at the Hyatt with the theme of a night in Old Hollywood with over 400 students in attendance. This was first year the school had song requests made previous to the dance itself. The evening was full of dancing and music ranging from “Jump” by Kriss Kross to “Turn Down for What” by DJ Shake and Lil Jon.

The Ossabaw Island Field Lab is available to visiting groups in need of a preparation site for scientific research on this historic barrier island, located seven miles south of Savannah.

The Children's Village Remembers Local Hero, Evan Nelms

Today was a very special day in Richmond Hill as the community remembers the lost of Evan Nelms, a 5-year-old Richmond Hill local who lost his battle with AML Leukemia a year ago today. In remembrance of Evan and his strength, The Children’s Village formed a parade around their playground and released orange balloons into the heavens. The same parade was held right after the passing of Evan last year.

The Annual Spring Book and Yard Sale sponsored by the Friends of the Richmond Hill Library on Saturday, April 5th, was a resounding success.  Although FOL offers books for sale every day in the library, the spring and fall sales are special events that raise the majority of the funds the group contributes to meet the library’s needs.  All proceeds will benefit the Richmond Hill Library, supporting the summer reading program and purchasing large print books and current bestsellers.

A great afternoon of doggy fun was had last Saturday, April 5th at Magnolia Manor who joined together with PawParazzi Pet Boutique to offer prizes for everyone taking part in the agility and ‘face only a mother could love’ competitions. The Bryan County Animal Control food drive was very successful with many donations of cat and dog food, and we would like to thank all the attendees for their generosity!
